This course focuses on practical knowledge of hilchos Shabbos in a number of specific areas, as well as the various reasons for those halachos.

Topics include: working on erev Shabbos, washing on erev Shabbos, kindling Shabbos candles, learning the weekly parshah, Kabbalas Shabbos, oneg and kavod Shabbos, resting on Shabbos, and learning Torah on Shabbos.

Students are expected to explore complex ideas relating to Shabbos and erev Shabbos in the essay sections, by combining independent thought and analysis with textual and halachic sources.
